Self Financing
Some entrepreneurs prefer self-financing because it provides them more control, while others like bringing in investors who are experienced in their field and provide important contacts and resources. Regardless, most start-up companies use a bit of founders' capital to get up and running. Institutional investors (venture capitalists and bankers) like to see founders committing personal capital to their companies. They call it "having skin in the game".
