Step 1: Register/Update Registration in eRA Commons

When should I register in eRA Commons?

If you are not already registered, it is recommended that registration occurs at minimum 20 days prior to a Grants.gov submission deadline.

How do I register in eRA Commons?

There are two ways to register in NIH’s eRA Commons as a University of Florida PI or Administrator.

1. The preferred method is to visit the DSR NIH eRA Commons web page and complete the NIH eRA Commons Registration Form. The form can be found at the following address http://apps.research.ufl.edu/research/nihera/register.cfm.

2. Alternatively you may contact Proposal Processing at ufproposals@research.ufl.edu or by calling (352) 392-9267 and have a Sr. Grants Specialist process the registration.

Note: NIH will send an e-mail to the PI with a link to activate the eRA Commons account. Remember, the registration process is not complete until the account has been activated.

I am already registered; do I need to update my registration information?

It is advisable to periodically verify registration information in eRA Commons and if necessary update the information. This is especially true as NIH transitions to Grants.gov many of the eRA Commons Validation rules are based on the registration information contained within Commons. If the information submitted in a proposal does not match the registration information in Commons; a warning or even an error can be generated during the NIH Grants.gov validation process.

How do I update my registration information?

To update eRA Commons information log into the eRA Commons web site and follow the instructions provided to update information as needed. For more information on updating Commons information or for further assistance with NIH Commons Information, Please see the Commons User Guide for information on Managing Personal Profile or contact Commons Support at commons@od.nih.gov or call 1-866-504-9552.
