Step 5: DSR Reviews and Submits Completed Application to Grants.gov

What is the DSR Review and Submission Process for Grants.gov Applications?

  1. DSR receives completed application package and associated documentation.

  2. DSR reviews the completed application package.

  3. If changes/revisions are necessary, DSR will work with the PI and his/her administrator to obtain the corrected document(s).

  4. Once the completed application package is ready for submission, DSR will submit the PureEdge file and all attachments to Grants.gov.

  5. DSR monitors e-mail correspondence from Grants.gov and takes action as appropriate. Grants.gov may take up to 48 hours to validate/reject the proposal.

  6. If Grants.gov rejects the application package, DSR will work with the PI and his/her administrator to revise and resubmit the corrected application package.

  7. DSR continues to monitor e-mail correspondence from Grants.gov until notification that the item has been validated by Grants.gov and forwarded to NIH.

Steps 1 – 7 may be repeated as necessitated if the application package fails the Grants.gov validation process due to errors. Grants.gov errors include: virus, incorrect DUNS number, unsuccessful registration, FOA has closed, file has illegal XFD format. For more information on what can cause an application package to be receive errors in Grants.gov view the following http://www.grants.gov/assets/ApplicationErrorTips.doc

Note:

If the application package and associated documents are not submitted to DSR in a timely manner; DSR reserves the right to submit the document to Grants.gov without review
